Although Hasan does delve into the issue of Islamic persecution of Copts in Egypt, the focus of the book is primarily the "Sunday School Movement" a Coptic revival in which many reforms were enacted by the Egyptian Coptic church which were a reaction partially to the Islamicization of Egyptian society and the entrance of the protestant church into Egypt. A good introduction to the modern day Coptic church.
