About Damascus

Damascus ("Dimashq" in Arabic) is believed to be the oldest continuosly inhabited city in the world. Its current population is estimated to be about 4.5 million.
Located in the Southwestern corner of Syria, it is the nation''s capital and cultural center. Important Sites:

  • Ummayad Mosque (said by Muslims to be the burial place
    of John the Baptist)
