There is not any one strategy alone that will bring us peace in the region. Middle East Fellowship had developed a number of projects and initiatives that, as a whole, can be seen as a comprehensive response to the Middle East Crisis.
Your donation will help keep these programs alive and give Middle East Fellowship the support it needs to continue operations for another year.
-----------------------------
Strategy #1: Education

It is useless to seek peace if we insist on remaining ignorant of the conflicts we wish to resolve. Middle East Fellowship has made some key investments in education over the years.
In addition to hosting lectures and workshops, we also maintain Middle East Window, an online magazine which fills in some of the gaps omitted by the mainstream press: like the ongoing Palestinian nonviolent movement, the role of Christian-Muslim dialogue and the presence and continuity of Holy Land Christians.
Without your support the website will go offline.
-----------------------------
Strategy #2: Nonviolence
We have long taken a principled stand for nonviolence, peace and reconciliation in the Middle East. That is why, side by side with our partner, Holy Land Trust, we have supported the nonviolence training seminars and peace and reconciliation efforts in the West Bank. In the video below, Sami Awad, Executive Director of Holy Land Trust, talks about the meaning and importance of nonviolence.
With your help, we can expand on our efforts to seek peace and justice through nonviolent means.

Strategy #3: Support our Veterans

As peacemakers, we need to be aware that the consequences of war do not end on the battlefield.
A recent study of homebound veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom demonstrated that 30% of America’s over one million new veterans suffer from combat related mental health issues, and 15% will receive a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD). The struggles of Vietnam veterans indicate that we can expect high levels of homelessness, alcoholism, drug addiction, and, sadly, suicide among this population unless they receive the help they need. National newspapers are already reporting a growing homeless population of veterans who served our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.
That's why Middle East Fellowship, along with Christian Recovery International, has launched Middle East Vets, a program to help our returning wounded warriors.
Whatever your feelings on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we must all band together to help our veterans when they need us most. "Supporting our Troops" is not a bumpersticker or an ideology, it's a real need. With your donation to the General Fund, you can help us sustain our veteran's program for years to come.

Strategy #4: The Living Stones

(Above: Artistic rendition of Paul's baptism in Damascus, Syria.)
As a Christian organization, we believe that Jesus Christ, the Messiah and Redeemer, is the Prince of Peace. Working for peace cannot be isolated or separated from the issue of faith.
The Middle East is a deeply religious place. It is the birth of the world's three major monotheistic traditions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Unfortunately, the Christians of the Middle East are a dwindling minority and are facing increasing challenges in the region. In Iraq, the Christian minority, along with other Iraqi groups, has become a target for violence.
As a Christian organization we seek to help all victims of war at home and in the Middle East. We continue to send aid to Iraqi Christian Refugees and have already sent one Refugee Response Team to meet with Iraqi Refugees and those aiding them. With your support, our assistance programs for Iraqi refugees can continue.

Strategy #5: Overseas Volunteers/ Cultural Ambassadors
When the nations like the United States does it, they call it "civil diplomacy"–they send volunteers to serve in schools, hospitals and in rural settings throughout the world, partly in the hopes of improving their image abroad. When missionaries do it, they call it "bearing witness"–by volunteering, and giving of ourselves, we are attempting to follow Christ's example, and to live the sort of life we have been called to lead.
Since 2004, Middle East Fellowship has sent teams of volunteers every summer to the Middle East. This past summer we sent over fifty volunteers to the West Bank to serve at hospitals, summer camps, schools and nonprofit organizations.
These volunteers come from countries around the world. They come from all walks of life. They are Christians, Muslims, Jews and secular. The age range is 16 to 80. What they share in common is a desire to make a difference.
With your donation to the General Fund, you can help keep programs like the Palestine Summer Encounter and Damascus Summer Encounter alive!
