Refugee Response Team Sample Itinerary

This is a sample itinerary only. Meetings and the schedule are likely to change and develop over time. But this will give you a sense of how the delegation's time will be spent. Additional meetings will be added.

November 14th:
Arrival in Damascus, Syria

November 15th:
Morning meeting with Iraqi families afterwards.

Afternoon meet with Mercy Corp to learn about their work in both Syria and Iraq to help Iraqi refugees. Possible meeting with Good Shepherd Convent to learn about their programs with Iraqi children.

November 16th:
Meeting with the UNHCR, the UN agency responsible for refugees in Syria.

Lunch and meeting with interfaith Iraqi group.

Visit the old city of Damascus and some biblical sites.

November 17th:
Possible Meeting with some church leaders HB Haizem, Greek Orthodox Patriarch and or HB Zaka, Syrian Orthodox Patriarch. Learn about the Patriarchate's programs for refugees, including their vocational training and health awareness programs.

Meeting with government officials to learn about the government's response to the influx of refugees.

November 18th:
Travel to Amman, Jordan.

November 19th:

Travel day. Departure back home.
